Zebulon "Zeb" Ward May, 83, of Mooresville, NC, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 24, 2026. Born in Burlington NC, Zeb was the son of late Emmanuel May Jr. and Rachel Ward May. He earned a bachelor's degree in biology from Guilford College in 1968. He went on to pursue his Doctor of Pharmacy degree, beginning his studies at the University of North Carolina and graduating from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1973. He was a proud Eagle Scout and later had the privilege of helping John complete his own Eagle Scout project. He was also of the Lutheran faith. He was a loving father, grandfather, and friend whose kindness, warmth, and unwavering love for his family touched everyone who knew him. While he held many roles throughout his life, one of his most cherished was that of "Paw Paw." His grandchildren brought him immense joy, and he treasured every moment spent with them, creating memories that will be carried forward for generations. Known for his loving heart and gentle spirit, Zeb was always ready with a smile, a story, or a helping hand. He found great happiness in the simple pleasures of life, especially cheering on his beloved North Carolina Tar Heels Men's Basketball team and the Atlanta Braves. Whether watching a game, discussing scores, or celebrating a victory, his passion for his teams was evident to all who knew him. More than anything, he valued family. He was a source of strength, guidance, and unconditional love. His legacy lives on in the lessons he taught, the laughter he shared, and the countless lives he touched through his generosity and compassion. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emmanuel May Jr. and Rachel Ward May, and his brother, Emmanuel "Tripp" May III. He is survived by his daughter, Shannon May Oakley (Jeff) of Prospect Hill, North Carolina; his two granddaughters, Dr. Briana Dawn Oakley and Kaitlyn Faith Oakley; and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved dearly. He is also lovingly remembered by Wendy and Bob Gormley, whom he considered cherished members of his family, as well as Wendy's two sons, John Everett Tobin and Michael "Mick" Gerald Tobin, whom he loved as his own grandchildren. Though our hearts are heavy with sorrow, we find comfort in knowing that the love and memories he leaves behind will remain with us forever. His presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who loved him. "Well done, good and faithful servant."
