Roy Lee "Roy" Alge, 88, of Terrell, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at Autumn Care of Statesville. Born on April 8, 1938, in Covington, Kentucky, Roy was the son of the late Carl W. Alge and Hazel Burton Alge. With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Roy Lee Alge, a devoted husband, proud father, loving grandfather, brother, veteran, and friend. Roy leaves behind a lifetime of cherished memories and a legacy of love, laughter, and generosity that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him. Roy proudly served his country in the United States Air Force before beginning a successful career as a salesman with DJ Mead and Sons in Buffalo, New York. He worked hard throughout his life, but nothing meant more to him than the people he loved. Roy was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 63 years, Sheila Aileen Alge. Together they built a beautiful family and shared a lifetime of memories. He is lovingly survived by his children, Michael (Joanne) Alge, Robert (Lorsey) Alge, MaryLou Wisniewski, and Roy (Lori) Alge; his sister, Mary Small; twelve beloved grandchildren and his great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends. To know Roy was to know someone who genuinely loved making others happy. His greatest joy came from being surrounded by his family. He treasured every opportunity to spend time with his children and grandchildren, no matter how big or small the occasion, he just loved making memories and sharing laughter. Those simple moments became lifelong memories that his family will always cherish. Roy had a special gift for bringing people together. He loved opening his home, firing up the grill, planning family gatherings, and making sure everyone felt welcome. Roy was happiest when the house was full of family, friends, good food, laughter, and conversation. He truly knew how to throw a party, not because everything was perfect, but because of his ability to make a complete stranger feel like a part of the family. His warm smile, generous heart, and joyful spirit made every gathering one to remember. When asked how he wanted to be remembered, Roy's answer was simple: with a celebration. He did not want a traditional funeral. Instead, he wanted his family and friends to gather, laugh, share stories, and celebrate a life well lived. That wish perfectly reflected the way he lived his life. In honoring Roy, we invite everyone who knew him to gather, share stories, laugh often, and celebrate a life that was truly well lived. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, supporting the families of fallen first responders, or to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America, whose mission is to provide caregiving services and fund research toward a cure. Roy's greatest accomplishment was not measured by titles or achievements, but by the love he gave so freely. His family was his pride, his joy, and his greatest blessing. While his presence will be deeply missed, his laughter, compassion, and unwavering love will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
