Rena Lou Howell Bishop, 89, of Mooresville, passed away on Sunday, February 12, 2017 at her residence. She was born on June 24, 1927 in West Jefferson, NC, to the late Wiley and Bessie Taylor Howell. Mrs. Bishop was a retired nurse and a member of First Presbyterian Church in Mooresville. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin Bishop; brother, David Howell; sister, Marolyn Proctor; and niece, Tammy Howell. She is survived by her children, Benjamin Bishop, Jr. and wife, Bernice; Miriam Ried and husband, Brian; sister, Elaine Rummage and husband, Ed; brother, Marvin Howell and wife, Betty; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, February 16 at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dr. Dave Rockness officiating. Burial will follow the service at Glenwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6:00-8:00 PM and also on Thursday from 1:00-2:00 PM prior to the service at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church Discretionary Fund, 249 W. McLelland Ave, Mooresville, NC 28115 and/or Hospice & Palliative Care of Iredell County, 2347 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625. Cavin-Cook Funeral Home, Mooresville, is serving the Bishop family.
