Karen Marie Kraushaar, loving mother of 3, grandmother to 5 and adoring wife of 62 years, was called home to Jesus on January 23rd, 2023 at 11:30pm in Huntersville, NC. Karen was born the youngest of 2 girls on March 7, 1940 in Cleveland, Ohio to Mr. & Mrs. Leonard Lawrance Riehl. In her high school and college years, Karen participated in various activities such as cheerleading and theater. Her starring moment was her leading role as "Ginger" in the play, "Time Out for Ginger". She was the Director of Children's Education at Brecksville United Methodist Church for many years and had fond memories of being an active member of both Cuyahoga Valley Church (Broadview Heights, OH) and Mosaic Wadsworth (Wadsworth, Ohio), where she and her beloved husband, Dick, cherished worshiping the Lord, teaching Sunday school, volunteering and helping her church community and youth. She loved reading her Bible, walking her dog(s), scrapbooking, cooking for her family and was a strong animal advocate who donated to many rescue charities. Her Golden Retriever(s) were always by her side. She and Dick often traveled to visit friends and family. Karen enjoyed spending summers at their cabin in Pointe Au Baril, Canada and winters in Aiken, SC. This kind and loving soul is survived by her husband, Richard H. Kraushaar Sr.; sons Rick (Amanda) Kraushaar and Brad (Kirsten) Kraushaar; granddaughters Mycah, Devi, Zoë and MacKenzie; son in law Robert (Kristen) Miller; and brother in law, Vern Kraushaar. She is predeceased by her sister and best friend, Margherite Riehl; daughter, Lisa Kraushaar-Miller and grandson Ryan Stiles. She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her. A memorial service will be held at 5:00 PM on Tuesday, January 31 at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home Chapel with Eddie Karriker officiating.
