Mr. John "Jack" Peter Shiah, 82, of Mooresville, NC passed away on Wednesday February 8, 2017 following a period of declining health. Jack was born on June 30, 1934 in Niagara Falls, New York to the late Thomas and Marie Shiah. Jack was the youngest of nine children and was a graduate of the Trott Vocational High School where he was trained as a carpenter. He owned and operated several small businesses including L&S Builders and the House of Kitchens, a custom kitchen business. He also was employed for 30 years as a Firefighter in Niagara Falls and retired as Captain. Jack also served in the Air National Guard Reserve unit. In 2000, Jack and his wife Fay moved to the Lake Norman area of North Carolina. For several years, Jack owned and operated JP Kitchens, a successful custom kitchen business in Mooresville. Jack was a fun loving, caring and generous person. He enjoyed big cigars and a good game of cards, and generally enjoyed everyone he met. Much of his time was spent with family and friends and he was the beloved "Giddo" to all of his grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Doris "Fay" Clontz Shiah, grandson Jack Thomas Carberry, brothers, George, Charles, Joseph, Edward, and Abraham, and sisters Rachel, Victoria, and Amelia. Survivors include his children John M. Shiah, James E. Shiah, Paul R. Shiah, and Marie C. Shiah, daughter-in-law Eileen Shiah, grandchildren Andrea, Elizabeth, Paul, John, Andrew, Thomas, Celeste and Victoria along with many nieces and nephews. The family will be receiving friends from 7:00-9:00 P.M. with a Prayer Service at 8:00 P.M. Monday February 13, 2017 at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home, Mooresville, NC. A Mass to celebrate his life will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday February 14, 2017 at St. Therese Catholic Church at 217 Brawley School Rd. Mooresville, N.C. Interment will follow at Glenwood Memorial Park, Mooresville, NC. A luncheon will follow at St. Therese.
