James Albert Wilkinson, 51, of Mooresville, NC passed away at home on Thursday, August 5, 2021 to be with his Heavenly Father. He was born on March 14, 1970 in Iron Station, NC, son of Raymond Lawrence Wilkinson and wife Ann and the late Mary Ellen Smith Ballard. He was preceded in death by his mother Mary Ellen Smith Ballard, his stepfather Bub Ballard, and sister, Kim Russell. James was a dedicated employee of Altec for over 21 years as a hydraulic technician. Where he gained lots of bothers who loved and cared for him. Prior to working at Altec, he also worked at Pike and Caterpillar. He had many hobbies which included dirt bike riding, four wheeling, flying drones, riding his Harley, driving remote control boats and cars, target shooting, and many others. He was a genuine man who loved life and never met a stranger. Most importantly he loved his family and will forever be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, son, brother, papaw, uncle, and friend. James was always proud of his work for Altec and always placed his work and customers first. He was always dedicated to the company that took care of him and always family first. He leaves a lasting legacy to be cherished by his survivors, his partner in life for 21 years and wife of 16 years, Melanie Hightower Wilkinson; by father, Raymond Wilkinson and wife, Ann of Iron Station, NC; daughters, Lynzee Magliulo and husband Michael of Hermitage, TN, Harleigh Monaghan and her boyfriend Andrew Maidon of Sanford, NC and her sister Rhonda Monaghan of Charlotte, NC, and Aleigha Wilkinson and his girls were of the souce of his pride his first granddaughter, Ocean Pearl Magliulo; brother, Chris Ballard of Phoenix, AZ; sisters, Rhonda Blackwood of Hickory, NC, Cammy Gamble and husband Mike of Mooresboro, NC, and Crystal Mitchell and husband Mike of Chesnee, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. On a personal note, Altec has always been a family to James and I. The techs, the owners, supervisors were his family. And they are mine and I will forever be thankful to call them, my family, my friends, and my brothers and sisters. A special thanks to ED and John Low for your outpouring love and support. And to all the others who took time to help and reach other with love and support. A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 27 at 2pm with a visitation to follow immediately afterward at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home, Mooresville, NC.
