With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of James "Jim" Ray Beaty, who peacefully journeyed into eternal rest with his wife, Brenda, by his side, on Monday, June 3, 2024, in Charlotte, North Carolina, at the age of 87. Jim was born on October 15, 1936, in Charlotte, to the loving parents Calvin McCammie Beaty and Sara Emaline Stegall Beaty. Jim was a man of remarkable accomplishments and dedication. A proud alumnus of Charlotte High School, he established Beaty's Bindery and Printing in his hometown in 1976, a venture he nurtured and ran with passion until his health began to wane. Throughout his life, Jim was deeply involved in various fraternal orders, holding memberships in the Charles M. Setzer Masonic Lodge #693, Oasis Shriners, Provost Guard, and the Hillbilly Clan 13. In 1995, he served as Chief of the SASA Provost Guard. Additionally, he was an esteemed honorary member of the Oasis Patrol and Keystone KOPS. In 1995, he presided as President of the Mecklenburg Shrine Club. He also served on the Charlotte Court 109 ROJ. Jim proudly served in the US Army National Guard. Jim will be forever remembered by his beloved wife, Brenda Morris Beaty, whom he married in 1987. He is survived by his brothers, Gene Beaty (Foxene) and Calvin "Buddy" Beaty (Jan), his sister LaNay Yandle, wife of the late past noble, James Yandle; his loyal fur companion, "Boogie"; nieces and nephews, Bobby Yandle (DeJuana), Rick Yandle (Tina), Gina Shirey (John), Meredith Beaty; eight grands; 18 nephews and nieces in the Morris family, especially Theresa Walker, Debbie Griggs, LaRue Andrews and Rose Fleming. He was also survived by nine godchildren, April Dugan, Ashley Haywood, Jason Kranz, Jamie Grey, Marty Brown, Joey Brown, the late Josh Jones, James Douglas Miller and Travis Jones. To honor Jim's life and memory, a gathering of friends and family will take place from 3 - 5 PM on Sunday, June 9, 2024, at The Sands Restaurant at Oasis Shriners, 604 Doug Mayes Place, Charlotte, NC 28262. A heartfelt Celebration of Life service, paying tribute to Jim's remarkable journey, will be held at 1 PM on Monday, June 10, 2024, at Christ United Methodist Church, 8020 Bellhaven Blvd., Charlotte, NC, 28216, where Jim and Brenda exchanged vows in 1987. The family would like to express their gratitude to Sandy Miller and Theresa King for all of their love, support and guidance through this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorials be made to Shriners Children's Greenville, c/o Oasis Shriners, 604 Doug Mayes Place, Charlotte, NC 28262, to the Charlotte Neuroscience Foundation, in care of Dr. Charles Edwards, 411 Billingsley Rd., Charlotte, NC 28211 or Christ United Methodist Church, 8020 Bellhaven Blvd., Charlotte, NC 28216.
