Helen Hamlin - Styers, 74, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2025, in Cornelius, North Carolina. Born on September 10, 1950, in Roanoke, Virginia, she lived a life marked by dedication to her family, a strong work ethic, and a deep love for the simple joys that made life beautiful. Helen was a proud graduate of North Mecklenburg High School, Class of 1969. She furthered her education at Southeastern College of Beauty Culture, where she began cultivating her lifelong passion for the beauty industry. In the early 1970s, Helen worked as a hairstylist at Merle Norman Cosmetics in Mooresville, North Carolina. Her career path later led her to General Time in Davidson-later known as Taltronics-and then to IBM in Charlotte, where she served as a quality control inspector. Eventually, Helen returned to her roots in the beauty field as a nail technician before retiring to embrace her most cherished role: full-time Nana. Left to cherish her memory are her devoted husband, Douglas Styers (Bubber); her three children: Stacy Winkler (Jody), Amanda McKinney (Vick), and Doug A. Styers; and her beloved granddaughter Shelby Winkler. Helen also leaves behind her loyal puppy Tinka and affectionate cat Bella. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter K. Hamlin and Sarah Ruth Hinson Hamlin. Helen's heart was always with her family. She found immense joy in caring for them and took pride in creating a warm and welcoming home. An exceptional cook known for her delicious meals, Helen also loved traveling to the beach, a place that brought her peace and happiness. Shopping trips and quiet moments spent reading were among her favorite pastimes. She had a green thumb and delighted in nurturing plants and flowers that brightened both her home and spirit. Above all else, Helen adored being "Nana" to Shelby Winkler. Their bond was one of deep affection and shared laughter-a relationship that brought Helen immeasurable joy throughout the years. A celebration of Helen's life will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at 2PM. The family will receive friends at this time. Cornelius Church of God Fellowship Hall, located at 19525 Oak Street, Cornelius, NC 28031. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Helen's honor to The Kidney Foundation www.kidney.org.
