Gerald "Jerry" Anthony Rhinehardt, 70, of Mooresville, passed at his home with family by his side on Tuesday, January 9, 2018. Jerry was born September 30, 1947 in Greenville, SC to the late John Lafayette Rhinehardt, Jr. and Mildred Harris Rhinehardt. Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Cynthia "Cindy" Rhinehardt to whom he was married for nearly thirty years. He was a proud father and is survived by his children, Andrea Rhinehardt and husband Japen Clark, Dawn Rhinehardt and husband Chris Breashears, and Karen McKnight. Jerry is also survived by his brother, John L. Rhinehardt, III and wife Lynn as well as his grandchildren, Austin Gerald Rhinehardt, Foster York, Cameron Rhinehardt and Dylan Breashears. Jerry was the proudest of Vietnam Veterans having served his country as a United States Marine. He further served as a member of the Patriot Guard Riders participating in over 70 missions honoring servicemen and servicewomen and fellow veterans. Jerry enjoyed a long career as an insurance adjuster both owning his own business and working for the state of North Carolina. He was a member and past president of the Queen City Corvette Club and loved racing and working on his model trains. He was generous and the first to offer assistance to neighbors, friends and family by way of fixing what was broken or not working properly and finding solutions to problems. He enjoyed boating with his wife and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. They were the light of his life. The family extends a special thank you to Hospice & Palliative Care of Iredell County for their responsiveness and loving care of Jerry. A Memorial service celebrating Jerry’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, January 14th at the Heritage House of Cavin-Cook Funeral Home. An Inurnment service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, January 15th with full military honors at Salisbury National Cemetery Columbarium.
