Floria Thomas, 83, of Mooresville, NC, passed away on Sunday, May 10, 2026 at The Atrium Hospice of Cabarrus County. Floria was born on August 2,1942, in Lake Providence, LA. She was the daughter of the late John L. Taylor and Bettie Newell. Floria loved spending time with family and friends. She graduated with honors from NC A & T University, with a Bachelor's Degree of Nursing, at the young age of 56. She was the oldest in her graduating class. She enjoyed discussing medical issues and had a wealth of knowledge in the medical field. Floria also liked watching medical shows on TV. If you were sick, she would encourage you to go to the doctor; however, if you mentioned your health condition to her, she would have you diagnosed before you even went to the doctor. On May 31, 1969, she symbolized her dedication to Jehovah by complete water emersion and was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. Love for Jehovah was the foundation of her life; and she enjoyed talking to others about bible truths. She served as a regular pioneer for 30+ years, where she loved ministering from door-to-door and conducting free home bible studies in an effort to help teach as many as possible about God and the Bible's hope. One of Floria's favorite things to talk about was the promise at Revelation 21:4, where God will soon "wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more." She believed this beautiful hope and promise; and she knew through God's Kingdom; soon, not only will God forever do away with death, but He will soon eliminate all of the suffering, pain, and sicknesses mankind experience today. Floria is preceded in death by her late husband Burnett Thomas, sisters Lovely Taylor Flood, Rebecca Taylor Bickham, Ethel Taylor; and brothers Milton Turner and Robert Turner. Survivors are Floria's two sons Michael, and Erik (wife Denica); four sisters Joann Turner, Gloria Davis, Sylvia Raymond, Wanda Turner; one brother Felton Taylor (wife Deidra); four grandchildren, Marlon (wife Autumn), Tatyana, Talaya, and Myles. Floria was also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other relatives and friends whom loved her dearly. Funeral services will be held at 6:00 PM on Saturday, May 30th at Kingdom Hall of Johovah's Witnesses 125 Olympia Drive, Mooresville, NC 28117. Immediately following the funeral there will be a repass catered dinner at Selma Burke Recreation, 781 Agape Drive, Mooresville, NC 28115. All attendees are invited to attend. The Thomas Family would like to thank the many nurses who helped care for Floria during her home hospice care, Shelly, Amy, Adriane, Ebony, Elfra, Olivia, Beth, Madison, Madelyn, Katie, Samantha, Sue, Rose, Jenna, Karen, Tanya, LaTwayna, and Kirsten, as well as The Atrium Hospice of Cabarrus County nurses, and Dr. Brianna, for their care and compassion.
