Donald Harold Hart, 83, of Kannapolis, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2026. Born on May 29, 1943, in Wilkes County, he was the son of the late Lundy and Lena Sheets Hart. A proud graduate of West Wilkes High School, Donald dedicated his life to serving his community, notably as a devoted exterminator in the Kannapolis area, where he made many lasting friendships. Beyond his professional life, Donald's heart was rooted in service. He was a member of the Enochville Fire Department for an impressive 51 years, showcasing his unwavering commitment to helping others. Additionally, he volunteered as a poll worker in Rowan County, contributing to the democratic process and promoting civic engagement. Donald shared his joy of dance with his companion, Mary Jane Milligan, as they actively participated in the Metrolina Square Dancers Association, creating many cherished memories together. Donald was a loving family man who took immense pride in his loved ones. He was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Hart. He is survived by his devoted companion, Mary Jane; his son, Charles Randall "Randy" Hart and wife, Karen; his daughter, Donna Hart Barlow and husband, Todd; his brothers, Hobert Hart and Allen Hart with his wife, Ann; and his sister, Sue Hart Gant and husband, Johnny. Donald will be deeply missed by his grandchildren, Michaela Songster, Matthew Hart, Wesley Barlow, Kylie Barlow Justice, Josh Young, Elizabeth Young, and Stephanie Young, as well as his 14 great-grandchildren, who brought him immeasurable joy. Funeral services to honor Donald's life will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at the Cavin-Cook Funeral Home Chapel in Mooresville. The family will welcome friends for visitation from 10 to 11 AM prior to the service. Following the funeral, a secondary service with a graveside service will take place at 3:30 PM at Poplar Grove Baptist Church in Millers Creek, NC, where Donald will be laid to rest. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made in Donald's memory to the Enochville Fire Department, located at 808 N.
