On July 26, 2026, David Wilbur Howie, a beloved husband, dad, grandfather, son and brother peacefully passed away in Cornelius, North Carolina, surrounded by dedicated friends and family. He was born March 2, 1965, born and raised in Davidson, NC, son of Frances (nee Mouzon) Howie and the late Donald Franklin Howie. Dave had a quiet way of leaving a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. He never needed to be the loudest person in the room - his dry sense of humor, quick wit, and perfectly timed one-liners could make anyone laugh with just a few words. He was incredibly observant, loyal to those he cared about, and the kind of friend on which everyone could rely upon. Though he wasn't one to seek the spotlight, he was well known and deeply loved by many, forming lifelong friendships wherever he went. His quiet presence, genuine heart, and unique ability to connect with others made him someone who will be remembered and missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Ocean Isle Beach was Dave's favorite place on earth - a place where he was happiest simply being surrounded by the people he loved most. His family was his whole world. A devoted husband and girl dad, he lovingly called his family his "Core Four" and made sure they never questioned how deeply they were loved. Later, he became a proud Pop Pop, embracing that role with the same love and devotion. Some of his most cherished memories were made there. He was always the first one awake, enjoying a quiet morning with a cup of coffee on the front porch. Ever thoughtful and selfless, he was our beloved "pack mule," making countless trips back and forth to the beach, the grocery store, and the farmer's market. It was in those simple moments - watching the waves, sharing laughs, and making sure his family had everything they needed - that his love shined brightest. Ocean Isle will forever hold a piece of his heart, just as he will forever hold a piece of ours. Dave proudly served in law enforcement for 15 years before stepping away to help support his wife's thriving business. No matter where he worked, he formed genuine, lasting friendships. He was a member of Prospect Presbyterian Church, Mooresville, NC, where he faithfully served as a deacon. He is survived by his mother, Frances Howie of Davidson, North Carolina; his wife of 36 years, Cristal Howie of Cornelius, North Carolina; daughters, Kaitlyn Mundy (Brandon) of Kannapolis, North Carolina and Kyndal Howie of Cornelius, North Carolina; brother, Don Howie (Amanda) of Houston, Texas; granddaughter, Baker Kate Mundy and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his father Donald Franklin Howie. A service will be held at Prospect Presbyterian Church, Mooresville on Saturday, August, 1st, with visitation at 11:00 am, followed by a service at 12:30 pm, and graveside interment thereafter in the church cemetery.
