Thomas Francis Malone III (Tommy), 66, of Mooresville, NC went home to be with our loving Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on October 18, 2023. He was born on November 27, 1956 in Jersey City, NJ to the late Thomas F. Malone Jr and Margaret Malone (Lloyd). Tom grew up in Jersey City Heights attending St Paul of the Cross School and St Anthony's H.S. where he enjoyed playing basketball and baseball. At the age of 17, he enlisted in the Air Force and was very proud to serve his country during the Vietnam war. After being honorably discharged from the Air Force, he resided in England where he became a Dad to his son Benn. Eventually he returned to New Jersey, and prior to moving to Mooresville, he worked as an electrician and spent much of his free time hunting, fishing, and camping, which he enjoyed even more when his dear friend Rob joined him. His favorite trips included back-packing in the Adirondacks and the Appalachian Trail. His friends in NJ remember him excelling in pool and playing a mean game of darts. Tom was always an avid reader, preferring non-fiction and historical books. Once he moved to North Carolina, he knew his future would be in computers and converted a hobby into a career. He taught himself how to rebuild computers and support software systems, becoming a certified IT Consultant. Tommy was a very intelligent man and had a great memory. He also enjoyed cooking and his best dishes were lasagna and homemade meatballs. He knew his stuff, that's for sure, and never backed down from a challenge. One of his famous quotes was "I'm a survivor and I can't let the b@$tards win!" Tommy was so happy that he had found the love of his life, Lisa, in his later years as well. He loved and cherished her deeply, even spoiled her a little and always told her how beautiful she was, and she was the best thing that ever happened to him. He called her his "Loving Angel" and their favorite songs were "Angel", "Wedding Day" and "The Well" by Casting Crowns, which was the first concert they went to together and it was amazing! He was also blessed to share and enjoy her beautiful family, when his was so far away. He was so thankful for his salvation when he asked Jesus to come into his heart, forgive him of his sins and save his soul. He had the assurance that when he took his last breath here on earth, that he would spend eternity with Jesus. Those left to cherish his memory are his longtime fiancé Lisa Carter, son Benn Malone, daughters Sara Thompson (Chris) and Christine Shannon, grandchildren Callie-Jo Keane, Elijah, Issac and Kaleb Thompson, sisters Peggy Malone, Kathy Churuti (John), and Eileen Malone, many nieces and nephews, cousins, close friends and his "best friend" Luke. Tommy's family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to his beloved church family and friends for their unwavering love and compassionate support that was extended to him this past year. We would also like to thank the Iredell EMS, Lake Norman Fire and Rescue, the nurses, physicians and staff at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center and Novant Presbyterian Medical Center, Centerwell nurses, physical and occupational therapists for the care and compassion you gave to Tommy. We also want to sincerely thank the nurses and physicians at Southern Oncology, Mooresville that cared for Tommy the past several years. 2 Tim. 4:7-8 (KJV) I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. A Memorial / Celebration of Life service will be scheduled at a later date. Tommy, You will always hold a special place in my heart and I cherish every moment we shared together, good and bad. I will forever miss your sweet smile, your laugh, your loving compliments, you telling me how much you love me and reading your sweet texts with hearts and kisses emojis and being able to text them back to you. You will never be forgotten and I will be forever thankful for your service to our country for the freedoms we have today. I know you fought a long hard fight these last few years and the Lord finally decided to give you rest. I am so thankful that I have comfort in knowing I will see you again one day and we will rejoice together in Heaven with our Lord Jesus Christ.
