Larry Wayne Overcash, age 79, of Mooresville, North Carolina went peacefully home to be with the Lord on July 26, 2026. He was born on July 9, 1947, in Mooresville, to Monroe Glaspie Overcash and Mary Eva Coon Overcash. Larry served in the US Army in Korea in the medical supply unit. After his service, Larry had several sales jobs that included driving a milk route in Mooresville and selling commercial kitchen equipment in Charlotte. In his later years of work, Larry worked at the Statesville Auto Auction and was able to enjoy his passion for driving a variety of fast cars. His love of cars was well known. Larry was a believer in a clean car, as witnessed by the condition of his blue Crown Vic at any time and his yellow F-100 Ford truck. In his earlier years, he was known to always drive a fast car, enjoying the sound and the power of the engine. He also liked to work in his yard. He watched a lot of TV with Westerns, Matlock, the Hallmark Channel being his favorites and would watch Billy Graham on YouTube. Larry's favorite place to visit was the beach, as he loved the sun and the beautiful water. He is preceded in death by his parents, Monroe and Mary Eva Overcash; brothers Gary Overcash and Terry Overcash and his daughter-in-law, Sherry Dodrill Overcash. "Daddy", "Papaw", "Pawpaw" "Larry" will be remembered for his quick wit, his peace-making nature, and for his love of his family. He is survived by his son, Larry Wayne Overcash II (Kim) of Statesville, daughter, Amy Overcash Barnes of Mooresville, Tony Barnes of Raleigh, and Vickie Overcash of Mooresville. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jimmy McNeely (Emilee), Joshua Overcash (Kalyn), Kelly Bumgardner, Kara Beebe, Chandler Barnes, Madyson Barnes and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Larry is also survived by his sister, Gail James; his brother-in-law, Jeffrey Arney, and sister-in- law, Crystal Arney. And lastly, Larry is survived by his two cats, Autumn and Moonlight, both bringing joy and companionship to his life. A memorial service will be held on Monday, August 3, 2026, at 2pm in the chapel of Cavin-Cook Funeral Home, 494 E. Plaza Dr, Mooresville, NC 28115. After the service, friends and family are welcome to join at his home, located at 389 Shinnville Road, Mooresville, NC 28115. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Gideons International, the American Heart Association, and the Humane Society.
