Vickie Barrier Gaultney, 75, of Mooresville, NC, passed away on July 11, 2026 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 8, 1950, in Mooresville, North Carolina, where she spent her life and became a devoted member of the community. She was the daughter of the late John Franklin Barrier and Irene Williams Barrier. Vickie dedicated many years of her life to the textile industry, where she worked diligently as a textile worker. Her early career as one of the first car hops at What-a-Burger in Mooresville showcased her vibrant spirit and her love for connecting with others. She was known for her love of music and dancing, always ready to celebrate life's moments, big or small. With a passion for adventure, she loved going to the beach and putting her toes in the sand. Vickie delighted in surprising her people with spontaneous outings that created lifelong memories. She was known as a loyal friend with lifelong relationships. Vickie cherished the holidays, embracing the magic of each occasion and instilling traditions that her family and friends will carry on. To know her was to love her; she had an extraordinary gift for welcoming everyone into her heart and home, often becoming a nurturing "Mom" to many in the community. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Ray Gaultney; daughter, Lisa Smith; brothers, Bill Barrier, Johnny Barrier; and brother-in-law, Dickie Whitlow; and nephew, Kenneth Christy. She is survived by her children, Teresa McClellan (Randy), Tommy Dula-Brown (Jeffrey), Allen Gaultney (Jackie); daughter-in-law, Dana Hager (Scott); sister, Barbara Whitlow; brother, Ronnie Barrier (Agie); sisters-in-law, Nancy Barrier, Barbara Barrier; beloved grandchildren, Bobby Mullis, Jessie Baldwin, Taylor Overcash (Lewis), Jefferson Dula, Jameson Dula (Abby), Courtney Bradshaw (David), Cory Gaultney, Cooper Gaultney (Anna-Clarie); great grandchildren, Cam Baldwin, Lucas Overcash, Raelyn Bradshaw, Adalee Bradshaw, Jayvius Dula, Brynley Dula; and numerous nieces and nephews. A special thank you to Kevin Esser for all your help. The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 16 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 17 at the chapel of Cavin-Cook Funeral Home with Pastor Cynthia McCleese officiating. Burial will follow the service at Glenwood Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Iredell County, 2347 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625.
