Tracey Evonne Wright

Tracey Evonne Wright, 57, of Mooresville, NC passed away on Saturday, September the 5th, 2026. Tracey was born December the 27th 1968 in Atlanta, Georgia to her beloved mother Wilma Jean Gibbs and her father James Ray Gibbs. Tracey graduated from West Iredell High School in 1986. Out of high school, she shared in a full-time ministry as one of Jehovah's Witnesses for 6 years. She then worked as a Marketing Assistant at Classic Graphics till 2006 when she stopped working to deal with mounting health issues. Tracey was married to Jerry Wright on September 14th, 1991. Tracey was a loving wife, sister and friend. Her lifetime of endurance was marked with dignity and joy. She loved people. She was known to spend much time encouraging ones that face difficulties, checking on them and giving them a listening ear. Though her own health was failing, she often offered to cook meals for others. Her concern for others and what they were going through always shifted her focus from her problems directly to theirs and what she could do to help them. What she suffered with daily caused her compassion, empathy and connection with others to run deep. She had a unique ability to zero in on those that were overlooked by others and lift them up with friendship. She was known for a loving, kind and joyful spirit. Tracey and Jerry were not able to have children of their own, so she grew close relationships with many of the children and young people in her congregation. Many come to know her as Aunt Tracey. Tracey encouraged Jerry to work hard to help others. Although she was limited in what she could do, she supported and encouraged him to do as much as he could to help people, though it took him away from her for hours at a time. Her love went further than her congregation. She was loved by her neighbors and family. She strived to show respect and kindness to all that she met, becoming a friend and confidant to neighbors, workers in the McDonald's drive-through, doctors, hairdressers, receptionists, really anybody she would meet. She will be greatly missed by anybody that met her. Tracey had many interests. She loved her dog Brinkley, who she unashamedly spoiled. Most of her friends knew her as a person that enjoyed Elvis. She would spend time watching his movies, listening to his music and her greatest trip was when she visited Graceland 2 years ago. While many know she enjoyed Elvis, they do not know why. It gave her a connection to her beloved mother and grandmother, losing both much too early in her life. As a young girl, the 3 of them would watch Elvis's movies together every Saturday afternoon. As an adult, watching those movies and listening to his music gave her a sense of that time with her mother and grandmother. Tracey enjoyed many genres of music: rock and roll, country, R&B and rap. Tracey loved karaoke and her go to song was I Love Rock and Roll. She loved to get up in front of a crowd and not only sing but perform. Tracey enjoyed watercolor painting, journaling, working with flowers, and she was an excellent cook. Tracey called the beach her happy place. It was any beach that she was able to go to that she was able to put her concerns behind her, truly enjoy herself, and eat fresh seafood. Tracey and Jerry began a tradition in 1996 of going to Holden Beach, NC every year. Just the two of them would go and enjoy sitting on the beach under an umbrella all day, eating dinner overlooking the ocean, watching the sunset in the evening and growing the wonderful love they had for each other. They continued that tradition till 2024 when they decided to start a new tradition of going to Kiawah Island, SC. They enjoyed 2 weeks in Kiawah in July before she died. She often said that this trip was the hardest trip she had taken, but one that she most enjoyed. The thing Tracey loved the most was her God, Jehovah. Tracey was an avid student of the Bible. She enjoyed attending meetings at the Kingdom Hall and regularly participated in her ministry. She loved to tell others about the hope for the future she had. She had no doubt that her God, Jehovah, would bring perfection to earth, and that she would have her health returned to her. If she died, she knew that Jehovah would fulfill his promise written in the Bible, that he will raise the dead. She would live again here on the earth. She had a hope that she and Jerry would have children of their own. There was no doubt in her mind that this would happen, and she had names for the 2 children that she hoped for, Rainey Andrew and Willow Rose. Her faith was unshakable. Just hours before she died, she told the doctor: "My God, Jehovah, has helped me". Tracey is survived by her husband Jerry Wright, sister, Lisa Gierszewski (Paul), nephew George Hennessy (Alaynna), dear cousins, and friends that she viewed as family. She would say that these friends were sisters and brothers that she got to choose. Special mention is made for Daphne Patty and Barbara Dearborn. Tracey's loving and kind spirit will forever be remembered by all whose lives were touched by Tracey. She will be missed but for a short time because she will also not be forgotten by Jehovah. His son Jesus will soon call out, and she will again live to bring joy to all who love her. A service will be held for Tracey on October 24th, 2026, at 2:30, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 125 Olympia Drive, Mooresville, NC 28117.
