The world lost a great man too soon. TR Rathbun left this life unexpectedly September 12, 2015 doing what he loved, cycling the Blue Ridge Parkway. TR was born on October 30, 1958 to Allan and Beverly Rathbun. He was a 1977 graduate of Perry High School in Perry, Ohio and received his Bachelors of Science at Bowling Green State University. He was employed as a successful V. Mueller surgical sales rep for 28 years, won numerous awards and was a mentor to many. He was highly respected by co-workers and customers for his professionalism and kindness. TR was an avid cyclist and one of the founding members of the Brawley Drafters Cycling Club established in 2004. He embodied the essence of sportsmanship and was a true ambassador for the sport he loved, always recruiting new members. What started as a small group grew into a fraternity of competitive bikers that traveled the world conquering the most challenging terrain and creating lifelong friendships. He will forever affectionately be known as their "President". TR lived every minute to the fullest and loved to stay active, whether it was fly fishing, hunting, spending time on the lake, or working on a new project. His many accomplishments included completing two Ironman, numerous triathlons and marathons. His greatest legacy, however, was being an incredible husband, father and friend to so many. He was most proud of his two daughters whom he adored. He is survived by his best friend and love of 27 years, Carrie (White); two beautiful daughters, Taylor Morgan and Alexandra Mae; parents, Allan and Beverly Rathbun; brother Jack (Patti) Rathbun and sister, Bonnie Rathbun. TR loved his nephew, Austin Foster; and nieces Tiffany (Darryl) Jackson, Miranda Rathbun, Cassandra Whited, Jenna Foster, Jordan Foster, Madeline Andrews and great niece, Brittyn Jackson. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert and Margaret Koeth and Howard and Mildred Rathbun. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Dove House, dovehousecac.org. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 16 from 4-7pm. Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, September 17 at St. Therese Catholic Church. Later that evening, family and friends will gather to celebrate TR’s life at 7:30pm at Lake Norman Tavern.
