Samuel "Sam" Allen Brown, Sr., 89, of Troutman, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 7, 2016 at his residence. He was born on December 11, 1926 in Mt. Ulla, to the late James Lee and Bessie Mae Sloop Brown. Sam was a veteran serving in the US Army during WWII .He was a 50 year member of the Masonic Order of Mooresville Masonic lodge # 496, where he served as Master and raised his three sons as members. After he moved to Troutman he was a member of Campbell Lodge # 374 in Troutman and a Past Master as were also one of his sons. Sam was a former member of and past Patron of Adah Chapter #258 and Troutman Order of the Eastern Star. Sam was a "Mr. Fix-It" and owned his own Electric Shop in Mooresville. He spent his extra time in fixing things for others. He was loving and dedicated to his family and his church; he was respected by those who knew him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers Arthur, Dave, Watson and Tom Brown, one sister Ruth L. Brown. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Constance "Connie" Walker Brown; children, Samuel Allen Brown, Jr (Vonnie), Wanda B. Cavin (Bill), Barry K. Brown (Lynne), Philip A. Brown (Susan); grandchildren, Dustin A. Brown (Sharon), Denae B. Gandy (Sam), Dana E. Coroi, Jennifer Eisele, Jessica Brown, Sarah Brown Jones(Garrett); step grandchildren Bill Cavin III(Tracey), Lee Cavin(Kathy) and Aaron Newton; great grandchildren, Reggie and Jonas Brown, Elias and Josiah Gandy, Makenzie and Landon Coroi, Aevan Kuhfta; step great grandchild Addison Cavin; sister, Susie Lee Davis; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, July 10, 2016, at Triplett United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Richard Auten and Rev. Joe Parker officiating. Burial with military and masonic honors will follow the service in the Triplett United Methodist Church Cemetery where the grandchildren will serves as pallbearers. The family will receive friends following the service and burial in the Christian Life Center at Triplett United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Triplett United Methodist Church Building Fund 838 Mazeppa Rd. Mooresville, NC 28115 or Hospice & Palliative Care of Lake Norman 705 Griffith St. Suite 203 Davidson, NC 28036.
