Ruth Deaton Stafford, of Troutman, formerly of Mooresville, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2026, at Glenwood Health and Rehabilitation in Mooresville, at the remarkable age of 102. Born on March 26, 1924, in Mooresville, North Carolina, Ruth was the beloved daughter of the late Zula Cashion Deaton and J. Marshall Deaton. Ruth's life was marked by her deep commitment to her family and her lifelong partner, Ray Stafford, with whom she shared an enduring marriage of 51 years. Together, they dedicated more than 30 years to their work at Burlington Industries, embodying a strong work ethic that defined their relationship. Beyond work, their love flourished in moments spent gardening, cooking, and nurturing the bonds with their nieces and nephews. Ruth's attentive care and affection for her extended family became a cornerstone of her legacy. Ruth attended Springdale Elementary School and was a proud graduate of Brawley High School. A devoted member of Fellowship Baptist Church, Ruth embodied the values of community and faith throughout her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ray, her sister, Mary Shuler, and her four brothers, Spencer, Guy, Gillie, and Kenneth "Jiggs" Deaton. Ruth is survived by her many nieces and nephews who will forever cherish the warm memories shared with their beloved aunt. The family will hold a graveside service on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at 11 AM at Glenwood Memorial Park in Mooresville, where family and friends will gather to honor and celebrate Ruth's remarkable life. Rev. Beau Mills will officiate the service, leading those in attendance in reflection and remembrance of her enduring spirit and the love she shared. The family wishes to convey their heartfelt gratitude to the incredible staff at Glenwood Health and Rehabilitation for their compassionate care over the past six years, as well as to the staff of Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County, whose kindness and support provided additional comfort during Ruth's final year.
