Robert L. Pratt (Bob), of Mooresville, NC, died on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at Sherrills Ford Hospice House. Bob was born on July 28 1936, in Hempstead, NY, son of the late George and Frances Lloyd Pratt. He grew up in Port Washington, NY, and graduated from Port Washington High School. He was a 1958 graduate of Dartmouth College. He did his graduate work in business at Columbia University in New York, NY. Bob was a financial management executive for several large corporations (IBM, GE, Texaco and lastly, The Aetna Insurance Company in Hartford, CT) where he received highest sales awards for his work. For the past 11 years, Bob and Judy have lived in Mooresville, NC, to be closer to family and to enjoy North Carolina’s climate. Bob was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church where he served on the finance committee and was a member of MOST men’s group. He developed a faith through his church that guided him throughout his final years. Bob did volunteer work with the United Way and was a member of the North Mecklenburg Rotary Club. Bob loved the outdoors. For most of his life, he enjoyed sailing, skiing, tennis, golf and biking with his family and children as they grew. Bob enjoyed spending time in the Adirondacks (Lake Bonaparte) with his family and traveling out west especially to Sedona, Arizona with friends. Bob will be remembered for his sense of humor, family values and his ability to make friendships with anyone everywhere. Bob married Judith (Judy) Johnston in Syracuse, NY, on July 20, 1963. They met at Columbia University and would have been married 53 years this coming July. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, David and daughter-in-law, Lisa, and grandchildren, Michael and Briana, of Mooresville, NC; his daughter, Deborah Varotsis and son-in-law, John, and grandchildren, Kristyn Ventresca and John Michael Varotsis, of Brookfield, CT. He is also survived by many other beloved family members and friends. Funeral Mass will be held at 1 PM, Friday, May 20, 2016, at St. Therese Catholic Church (Day Chapel), Mooresville, NC. The Pratt family will receive friends immediately following the mass in the Parrish Life Center. In lieu of flowers a memorial contribution can be made to Eldercenter, Inc., P.O.
