Robert Clifton Archie "Bill", 87, of Mooresville, passed away on Friday, March 3, 2017 at Autumn Care of Cornelius Nursing Home. Bill, one of nine children, was born on August 16, 1929 in Iredell County, to the late James Edward Archie and Ollie Mae Blackwelder Archie. He attended Mooresville schools and made a career in the textile industry. He worked many years at Mooresville Cotton Mill and retired from Springs Industries in Fort Lawn, S.C. Bill was a member of Fieldstone Presbyterian Church in Mooresville. After retirement, he and his wife, Jo, enjoyed traveling around the United States, bird watching and spending time with family. Bill had a keen interest in automobiles. His quick wit and dry sense of humor entertained everyone around him. He enjoyed keeping up with the changes of Mooresville during his daily drives around town and reminiscing about the good old days. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, JoRetta Levan Archie and three siblings, Elva Archie Bass, Lewis Archie and Tilden Archie. He is survived by his children, Sherry Archie Strunk and husband, Whit of Mooresville, Robert Clifton "Cliff" Archie, Jr. and wife, Sherry of Lancaster, SC, Scott Archie of Mooresville; sisters, Fay Nell Archie Ratledge of Mooresville, Margaret Archie Ratledge and husband, Arthur of Woodleaf, Peggy Archie Brookshire of Granite Falls; brothers, Charles "Pete" Archie and wife, Beverly, Gary Archie and wife, Nancy of Mooresville; four grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Burial will be held on Thursday, March 9, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Glenwood Memorial Park, Mooresville. A Memorial service will be held at 11:30 AM, on Thursday, March 9, at Fieldstone Presbyterian Church with Pastor Inger Manchester officiating.. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fieldstone Presbyterian Church, 804 Fieldstone Rd.
