Phyllis Hamilton, 94, was received into the loving arms of her Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, July 25, 2016. Phyllis’s husband of 56 years, Ed, preceded her in death as well as her brother George Hendrick and parents Charles and Dorothy Hendrick. Phyllis was born and raised in upstate New York. She and her husband lived in several states and towns including San Jose, CA where for 25 years they played golf and bridge as well as travelled frequently. Most importantly, they enjoyed spending time with their good friends and family. Phyllis graduated from Syracuse University School of Nursing and worked in military and civilian hospitals, doctor offices, industrial settings and skilled nursing facilities. For over a decade, Phyllis has called Mooresville, NC her home. She very much appreciated the support of the Mooresville Senior Center, where she enjoyed playing bridge, water exercise and other activities offered by the Center. Though Phyllis battled physical challenges, she never gave up on living life to its fullest. She always had a smile and warm greeting for others and leaves a legacy of love and compassion to her children Rob, Carolyn and Dale as well as grandchildren and great grandchildren. The wonderful memories of her life will live on in all the hearts that knew her. A celebration of life will be conducted at 3:00 PM, Sunday, August 7, 2016, at the Cavin Cook Funeral Home at 494 E Plaza Drive in Mooresville, NC. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Iredell County 2347 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28725.
