Myka Jill Courtney Bell was born on August 6, 1977 in Detroit, Michigan. She was Loved and raised by her parents, the Late Cordell and Mrs. Carolyn Counsel. Myka attended and graduated from Southfield High School in 1995. She earned her Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management from Michigan State University in 1995. She later completed her Masters Degree in Human Resources from Michigan State in 2005. She was employed with Bank of America. On February 17, 2007 she was united in Holy matrimony to Leont'e Bell. One child was born, Nia Joi Bell. Myka was a strong and courageous woman. She had a sweet, but determined spirit. She would encourage others, even as she dealt with her own pain. Her daughter and husband were her pride and joy. All of Myka's family and friends share fond memories of the times they spent with her. Those that knew her well will remember her laugh, her beauty inside and out, her loyalty, and her dedication to her daughter, Nia. Myka enjoyed family time, shopping, cooking, camping, volleyball, traveling, attending Nia's sporting events, as well as board and card games. Myka was active and highly competitive. She was loved dearly by family and friends. She will forever remain in our hearts and will truly be missed. She departed this earthly life on Friday, October 26, 2018. She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving husband, Leont'e; daughter, Nia; mother, Carolyn Counsel; grandmother, Hattie P. Baker; brother, Damon Scott Moon (Gloria); sisters-in-law, Keisha (Deon) Bailey and Teletha Bell; nieces, Whitney Bell and Kiana Moon; nephew, Devin Moon; great-niece, Kennedy DeWalt; cousins; a close group of sister friends; a special uncle, Walter and aunt, Phyllis Marshall; and a host of friends and relatives. She was preceded in death by her father, Cordell Counsel and grandfather, Odell Baker. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, November 3, 2018, at the Cavin-Cook Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Brent Thompson officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 - 8 PM, Friday, November 2, 2018, at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home, Mooresville. Cavin-Cook Funeral Home & Crematory, Mooresville, is serving the Bell family.
