Mina McLean Cockrell, 90, of Mooresville peacefully passed from this world and was ushered into Heaven on Saturday, July 8, 2017. She was born on September 29, 1926 in Gaston County to the late Lillie Bailey and Walter Bynum McLean and she moved to Mooresville in 1942. Mrs. Cockrell was retired from Chemspun and Walmart. She was a very active woman who enjoyed playing and singing gospel music with her late husband, Ross Cockrell and many other friends. Mrs. Cockrell played the piano and organ for Cascade Baptist Church and also for Wiggins Road Baptist Church. She gave herself fully to the work of the Lord Jesus Christ because she knew her labor was not in vain. Mrs. Cockrell loved her family and taught her children to trust in the Lord at an early age. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Cockrell was preceded in death by her husband, Ross M. Cockrell; son, David Alan Wright; and brother, James Walter McLean. She is survived by her daughters, Kay Lemmond and Nancy Wright-Leek; sons, Glenn Wright, Edward Wright and John Cockrell; daughters-in-law, Bonnie Wright, Pam Wright and Paulette Wright; son-in-law, Clive Leek; a special sister-in-law and friend, Barbara Wright; eleven awesome grandchildren, Galen Ledbetter, Jeff Wright, Joey Wright, Jeremy Wright, Kelly Wright Bly, Jason Wright, Chad Towell, Brent Towell, Kyla Wright Quinn, Jonathan Wright and Jamie Wright; twenty-one great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and treasured friends. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2pm on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home in Mooresville. Pastor Alan DiDio of Encounter Christ Church in Albemarle will be officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at Willow Valley Cemetery in Mooresville.
