It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Michael Colin Ferdinands, 92, of Mooresville, NC. Michael peacefully went to be with his Lord and Savior on June 19, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, respected plastic surgeon and a faithful servant of God. Michael was born on January 29, 1934, in Secunderabad, India to the late Mervyn and Irma Ferdinands. After graduating from Christian Medical College, Vellore in India, Michael immigrated to the United States to pursue his medical career in Plastic Surgery. Michael completed his residency in Albany, NY and started his own practice, Plastic Surgery Associates, in Moline, IL. Throughout his career, he was known not only for his skill and professionalism but also for the care and compassion he showed his patients and colleagues. His distinguished career in plastic surgery continued until his retirement in 1999. At that time, he retired to be closer to his family and first grandchild. Michael was a dedicated member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Bettendorf, IA, the Episcopal Cathedral in Davenport, IA and St. Patrick's Church in Mooresville, NC. His love and dedication to the Lord were evident in every aspect of his life. Michael loved his adopted country and became a proud American citizen in 1979. He was an ardent follower of politics, WWF wrestling and traveling (yes, he had a diverse list of interests!) He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, courage, generosity, and unwavering faith that will continue to inspire all who knew him. Michael loved traveling with his beloved wife, Pamela, and his family and embraced opportunities to explore the world. His favorite place was on the balcony of a cruise ship watching the water. He loved nature and spent time observing the amazing wildlife in his backyard. Above all else, Michael cherished his family. He will forever be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, godfather, grandfather, and friend. He loved sharing stories and telling jokes around the dinner table. He treasured the experiences that brought loved ones together. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, courage, generosity, and unwavering faith that will continue to inspire all who knew him. He leaves a lasting memory to be cherished by his survivors, his wife of 64 years, Pamela Ferdinands; daughters, Lillian Ferdinands and husband, William Flannery of Mooresville, NC, Renuka Ware and husband, Stephen of Louisburg, NC and Shireen Mehl of Fuquay-Varina, NC; grandchildren, Benjamin, Collin, Olivia and Sarah Flannery, Shalini and Christopher Ware and Christian and Allyson Mehl. Celebration of life service will be held by the family at St. Patrick's Episcopal Church on July 6, 2026. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to all the hospice staff, his physician, Thomas Webb, MD, his beloved church family and friends for their unwavering compassionate and supportive care.
