Kevin Gene Smith, 56, of Mooresville, passed away on Friday, April 8, 2016. He was born on June 15, 1959 in Iredell County, to the late Francis Carrigian Smith and Bobby Gene Smith. He was a member and former deacon of Shearers Presbyterian Church, Mooresville. He was a former President of the Wilderness Hunting Club in Richburg, South Carolina. He was an avid outdoorsman and fisherman and loved teaching others, especially youth about the outdoors and nature. Kevin loved to see the sunrise from his tree stand. He enjoyed fishing with his family from the shores of Portsmouth Island. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Kelly Smith McCarter and father-in-law Lonnie C. Brown. He is survived by his loving wife of thirty four years, Lonnie Brown Smith; daughter, Nicole Smith Farnsworth and husband, Russ; grandchildren; Levi, Luke and Evan Farnsworth; Aunt, Martha Seaford; cousins; Gregg Seaford and wife, Michelle, Leisa Fisher and husband, Scott; nephew, Roger McCarter, Jr. all of China Grove; uncle; Raymond Seaford of Kannapolis, Mother-in-law and motherly figure, Betty Martin Brown; sisters-in-law, Darnell Beam and husband, Rodney , Cathy Blackwelder, Rhonda Meadows, Patty Lawing and husband, Phillip. Also left to cherish his memory is special family friends JoAnne and Gus Dingler, special friends, co-workers and numerous extended family members. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, April 12 at 3:00 PM at Shearer Presbyterian Church, Mooresville, with Rev. Steve Stout officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday, April 11 from 5:30 – 8:00 PM at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home.
