Tributes

My mom was born on Aug 11, 1947. She had one brother and three sisters. She married my dad in 1964 and had my brother and I in 1968 & 1970. They divorced in 1972. My mom worked hard to give us what we needed and a lot of the time what we wanted. I never knew her to drink, smoke or party. Her vice was hard work. She was only 4'9" but I never knew her to let that stop her from any job she wanted. She persevered. She worked mainly in textiles and earned a healthy income from it. In 1977, she met my stepfather, Ronnie Pittman, and they were married shortly after. It was a marriage that would last 32 years until his death in 2009. My mom missed Ronnie more than words can even describe. She grieved for a long time for him. To occupy her time, she spent her Saturdays at Value Village pouring over the incoming inventory and taking much of it home. I think her real pleasure of those days was the people she would meet (she met a lot of nice people). To say my mom never met a stranger was to describe her perfectly. She had a sweet heart but a strong persona. She raised my brother and I that education was the only thing and she held to that. She didn't ever accept less from perfect from us in school. In her later days, she enjoyed her grandsons and her great-grandchildren. She enjoyed buying them toys and watching them play with them. Her last days were not her best days as her mind remained strong, but her body gave up on her. I will miss her always and as much as it sometimes annoyed me at the time that she would keep me on the phone for 5 hours at a time, I know I will miss our weekend calls. Rest in Peace Mommy. Julia is preceded in death by her husband, Ronnie; parents, Neil Archie Moore, Jr. and Mary Janice McLeod Moore; sister, Marie Frye; brother, Archie Moore. She is survived by her daughter, Angela Gillespie Cash (Douglas); son, Thomas "TJ" Gillespie, Jr. (Jennifer); grandchildren, Justin Rickner, Brandon Rickner (Hannah), Megan Cash, Bryan Cash (Lizzy); great-grandchildren, Sophia and Michael Rickner, Lylah and Brayden Cash; sisters, Katherine Moore, Laura Mills (Herb); half-brothers, Timothy Moore and Bobbie Moore.
