John Marshall Walsh, 45, of Statesville, NC, died on Saturday, July 27, 2019. Born July 27, 1974, in Glens Falls, NY, he was the son of Garland Robert Walsh Jr. and Lucy Rosalind (Noseworthy) Walsh both of Newcomb, NY and Statesville, NC. John graduated from Hudson Falls High School in Hudson Falls, NY in 1993 and immediately enlisted in the United States Navy where he honorably served his country for five years as a Navy Airman and Acoustic Sensor Operator aboard the P-3 Orion Aircraft. He was also a veteran of the Bosnian War. John was an active member of VFW Post #2031 in Statesville, NC and served as their Junior Vice Commander. John spent much of his post-military career as an automotive and HVAC technician. One of his many loves was music. He was a talented guitar player, drummer and singer. John also enjoyed hunting in the Adirondacks with his family, fishing, and spending time with his family and close friends, especially his daughter, Olivia. John was baptized on February 25, 2018, at Grace Covenant Church in Cornelius, NC, rededicating his heart and life to the Lord. The family takes great comfort in knowing that John is strumming his guitar in Heaven with Jesus. Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved and beautiful daughter, Olivia Rosalind Walsh of Mooresville, NC, his parents, Garland and Lucy Walsh Jr., Amber Steele Walsh (wife) of Troutman, NC, Garland Walsh III (brother) and his wife Tammy, of Wallkill, NY, Kimberly Walsh (sister) and her husband John Beasley V, of Denver, NC. John was also the cherished uncle of Kiera Rose Power and the godfather to his nephew, Kyle Power Walsh, both of Wallkill, NY. John is survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins. The family will receive friends and loved ones on Friday, August 2, 2019 from 6pm – 8pm at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home in Mooresville, NC. The service with full military honors will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2019, at 4pm, also at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you make donations to assist with the future needs of John’s daughter, Olivia.
