It is with heavy hearts and deep reverence that we announce the passing of Gladys Christine Kistler Barker of Mooresville, NC, a truly remarkable woman whose life was a testament to faith, love, and unwavering devotion. She departed this earthly realm on August 12, 2023, surrounded by the warmth and the grace of her beliefs. She has been reunited with her beloved husband Bobby H. Barker, sister, Betty Kistler Black, brother, Bobby Kistler, and grandson, Jason Sherrill in the arms of Jesus. Born on November 17, 1933, to the late James Grey Kistler and Elsie Bost Kistler, Gladys was a beacon of light to all who had the privilege of knowing her. She retired as a payroll specialist from Ingersoll Rand, and was a member of Triplett United Methodist Church, the Golden Trippers, and the United Methodist Women. She taught Sunday School and served on many committees at her church. She loved to read, travel, and spend time with her family and friends. Her life was characterized by a profound commitment to her faith, and her actions spoke volumes about her unwavering connection to her spirituality. She exemplified the virtues of compassion, kindness, and humility, embodying the principles she held dear. Throughout her journey, Gladys touched countless lives with her boundless love and generosity. She was not only a devoted family member but also a cherished friend, a guiding mentor, and a pillar of strength in her community. Her radiant smile and comforting presence had the power to uplift even the heaviest hearts. In her role as a mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Gladys demonstrated the transformative power of faith. She nurtured her family with unyielding love, instilling in them the values that have now become a part of her lasting legacy. Her home was a sanctuary of love and understanding, a testament to her commitment to fostering unity and harmony. Gladys leaves behind her four children, Michael Howard Barker (Robin Carter Barker) of Landrum, SC, Becky Barker Ferguson of Mooresville, NC, Susan Barker Mercer of Mooresville, NC, James Wayne Barker (Lorraine Forbes Barker) of Concord, NC, grandchildren, Joshua Sherrill (Helen), Jeremy Sherrill (Tammy), Buddy Francis, Claire Barker, Philip Barker, Ryan Barker, Caitlin Mercer, Christopher Mercer, Gavin Barker, Rachel Barker, Lydia Mercer, great-grandchildren, Jacey Sherrill, Avery Kiste, Will Sammet, and Archer Lake, along with many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. Gladys' spiritual journey was a source of inspiration to many. She dedicated herself to acts of service, reaching out to those in need and offering her support without hesitation. Her unwavering trust in a higher purpose served as a beacon of hope for others, reminding them to remain steadfast in their beliefs even during the most challenging times. As we remember Gladys, let us reflect upon the indelible imprint she leaves behind. Her life was an ode to faith, love, and selflessness-a testament to the impact that one person's commitment to goodness can have on the world. While she may have left this mortal realm, her spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to cross paths with her. A celebration of Gladys' life will be held at 2pm, with the family receiving friends from 1pm to 2pm on August 21, 2023, at Triplett Church 838 Mazeppa Rd, Mooresville, NC 28115. Burial will follow the service at the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Alzheimer's Association 225 N.
