Elizabeth "Lib" Guthrie Dellinger Elizabeth "Lib" Guthrie Dellinger of Mooresville, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on July 26, 2026, just two days before celebrating her 100th birthday. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 52 years, Alvin D. Dellinger Sr.; her daughter, Barbara Anne Dellinger, her parents, Irene H. Guthrie and James L. Guthrie; and her parents-in-law, Noah G. Dellinger and Charlotte E. Dellinger. Lib's life was defined by love, service, faith, and family. She met her husband Al on a blind date. They married in June 1950 and began a beautiful journey together that would span more than five decades. Together they raised seven children. A dedicated registered nurse, Lib built a rewarding career serving patients in hospital, private practice, and industrial settings. Yet nursing was more than a profession to her; it was a calling that reflected her compassionate heart. Throughout her life, she selflessly cared for those she loved, including her parents, her in-laws, her husband during his final days, and her seven children: Cynthia, Libby, Barbara, Maggie, Allison, Alvin, and James. Following Al's passing, Lib moved to Mooresville in 2002 to be closer to family. There she became an active and cherished member of First Baptist Church of Mooresville. She faithfully sang in the choir. Lib volunteered generously at her church and the Mooresville Soup Kitchen. She formed countless meaningful friendships through her church and community. Affectionately known as "Grandma Lib," she welcomed others with kindness, wisdom, and an open heart. Her warmth touched generations, and she became a beloved figure to family, friends, neighbors, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Lib is survived by her children and their spouses; Cynthia Dellinger (Jim Baer), Elizabeth "Libby" Dellinger, Maggie Dellinger (David Knapik), Allison Dellinger (Ches Hortenstine), Alvin D. Dellinger Jr. (Sally), and James Dellinger (Lisa). She was a devoted grandmother to Chris Barbee (Rebecca), Kayla Weber, Nora Sloop (Ryan), Courtney Dellinger (Adam Atwell), Blythe Dellinger, and Jacob Dellinger. She was also blessed with great-grandchildren, Carson Cottrell, Kane Weber, Jameson Weber, Allison Sloop, Sam Sloop, and Perry Atwell, each of whom brought immeasurable joy to her life. Lib's century-long life was a testament to unwavering faith, steadfast devotion to family, and a heart devoted to caring for others. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched, the family she cherished, and the example of grace, compassion, and love she leaves behind. Her family laid her to rest during a private burial service in Woodstock, Virginia. She now rests peacefully beside her beloved husband.
