David William "Bill" Smith, 82, of Mooresville, passed away on Friday, March 11, 2016, at Brian Center, Mooresville. He was born on October 4, 1933 in Cleveland, Ohio, to the late Allan and Elizabeth Alexander Smith. Bill was a veteran serving in the US Navy and retired machinist from Celanese Company in Shelby after having 26 years of service. He was a mason for 60 years, a member of The Order of The Eastern Star, Master of the Masonic Lodge in Kings Mountain in1961, Master of the Cleveland Lodge #202 in 1985 and Mooresville #496 in 2000. He was also a member of Scottish and York Rite. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Blanton Smith. He is survived by his children, Robert A. Smith and wife, Linda, David C. Smith and wife, Eileen, Paul D. Smith and wife, Mary; grandchildren, Peter and Tina Smith, Carly and Kyle Getson, Kevin Smith and fiancé Ashley Becker, Carver Smith, and Gwendolyn Smith; great-grandchildren, Samuel Getson, Meredith Smith, Lucy Getson, and Charlie Smith; sister, Nancy Luepke; and special friend Gail Sanders. The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 13, from 6:30-8:00 PM at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, March 14 at Central United Methodist Church with Rev. Randy Sherrill officiating. Burial with Masonic Rites will follow the service at Glenwood Memorial Park. Cavin-Cook Funeral Home, Mooresville, is serving the Smith family.
