Coy Ray Wiles Jr., beloved brother, husband, father, and pawpaw, peacefully passed away at the age of 80 on Tuesday, October 10, 2023. Born on September 7, 1943, in Savannah, Georgia, Coy was the cherished son of Coy Ray Wiles Sr. and Mildred Irene McCubbins Wiles. He grew up in Goldhill, NC with his sister and two brothers. As a young boy, he enjoyed the outdoor life; hunting, fishing, and exploring this wonderful country. Coy was a true Patriot at heart. His unwavering dedication to his country led him to serve in the United States Marine Corps during Vietnam. His bravery and commitment earned him the respect and gratitude of his fellow Marines and his nation. After his duty to his Country was completed, Coy embarked on a distinguished 30-year career as a mechanic in the energy industry, working diligently for Duke Power Company until his retirement. After returning home from Vietnam, he found happiness and companionship in the arms of his beloved wife, Betty Sue Featherstone Wiles, with whom he shared a 56-year journey filled with love and devotion. Outside of his professional life, Coy had a passion for woodworking and wood carving. He possessed an artistic touch and reveled in creating unique pieces that would bring joy to others. An adventurer at heart, Coy enjoyed traveling, taking his Harley on spirited rides and exploring new horizons. Closer to home, he found solace and peace on his farm, tending to the land on his trusty John Deere tractor. Coy will always be remembered for his incredible instincts, profound values, unwavering love for his family, and a genuine good-natured sense of humor like no other. He leaves behind a legacy of strength, loyalty, and compassion that will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him. In addition to his parents, Coy was preceded in death by his daughter, Kimberly Wiles Suitt, his brother, Jerry Wiles, and his sister, Carol Wiles Lambert. His memory will forever be cherished by his wife, Betty Sue Wiles; his children, Donna Bennett and her husband, Glenn, and Coy Ray Wiles III and his wife, Heather; his brother, Richard Wiles, and his wife, Susan; his seven beloved grandchildren, Lauren Suitt, Lathan Suitt, Lannah Suitt, Jenna Bennett, Noah Bennett, Coy Ray Wiles IV, and Landon Ray Wiles; his sister-in-law, Faye Wiles, and numerous nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service will be held on Sunday October 29, 2023, at 4:00 PM at Triplett Methodist Church with the Rev. Jim King officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends on Saturday October 28, 2023, from 6:00-8:00 PM at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home. In honor of Coy's generous spirit and his dedication to helping others, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to Shriners Children's Hospital and/or Triplett Methodist Church. Coy Ray Wiles Jr. has left an indelible mark on the lives of all those he touched. His memory will forever shine brightly in the hearts of his loved ones, and his spirit will continue to guide them as they navigate life's journey.
