Alma Catherine Dawkins Watts, 89, of Mooresville, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 19, 1928 in Charlotte, to the late Thomas Vernon Dawkins and Frankie Thompson Dawkins. Mrs. Watts was a native of Charlotte and grew up in the North Davidson area. She was a graduate of Thomasboro High School in Charlotte, where she played softball. She was a member of Peninsula Baptist Church in Mooresville. Mrs. Watts was fondly known as Mawmaw to everyone who knew her. She loved her family and enjoyed getting together and being with them. Mawmaw never missed her grandchildren or great grandchildren’s athletics or activities, she was always there cheering them on. She loved to go, no matter where you were going she was going with you. She also enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles and word searches. She will definitely be missed by everyone who knew her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, H. Edward Watts; sisters, Inabelle Barrett, Grace Jenkins; and brothers, William and Earl Dawkins. She is survived by her children, Cheryl Moore (Fred), Lynn Williams, Debby Watts (Parry Currier), Jeff Watts (Melanie); grandchildren, Chip Reynolds (Jackie Privett), Stacy Baumgartner (Bill), Court Greene (Kristi), Zach Greene (Kristen Peterson), Adam Moore (Bekah), Abby Helms, Crafton Watts (Jill), Keanan Watts; great grandchildren, Tyler and Alyssa Ingle, Devin Reynolds, Katherine and Leah Greene, Koby and Kaden Helms, Kynzie Watts, Gideon Greene, Brylie Moore, Judson and Nate Jones, Jacob, Josh, and Jolie Privett; and great great grandson, Hunter Ingle. The family will receive friends on Monday, April 2 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, April 3 at Heritage House of Cavin-Cook Funeral Home with Rev. Court Greene and Rev. Dr. Robert Jackson officiating. Burial will follow the service at Glenwood Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Iredell County, 2347 Simonton Rd, Statesville, NC 28625 and/or Alzheimer's Association Western Carolina, 4600 Park Road, Suite 250, Charlotte, NC 28209.
