Mary Catherine Love

Mary Catherine "Cat" Orbison Love, 90, of China Grove, passed away on Sunday, June 19, 2022, at TerraBella Salisbury. Catherine was born in Mt. Ulla on December 14, 1931, to the late Edward Eldridge Orbison, Sr. and Beulah Mae Parker Orbison. In addition to her parents, Catherine was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Hayley Elizabeth Books. siblings, Peggy Stuart, Frances Karriker, Becky Waller, Darrell Orbison, Cecil Orbison, Wayne Orbison; sister-in-law, Jo Reta Love Vansickle. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Bill Love; children, Cathy Books, Eddie Love; grandson, Jared Books (Roxanna); siblings, Phyllis Honeycutt, Patty Jean Orbison, Phillip Orbison (Patty Morrow), Edward "Junior" Orbison, Jr. (Frances); sisters-in-law, Donna Orbison, Carolyn Love Scott (G.E. "Scotty"); brothers-in-law, Ken Love (Gloria), Steve Love (Jane), and Jim Karriker; and numerous nieces and nephews. Catherine loved gardening, birds, in particular hummingbirds and red birds, flowers, baking, sewing, and quilting with her mother when she was alive. Family always came first. She loved church hymns, helping in the nursery and cooking at church. She took pride in keeping an immaculate home. Mrs. Love was always willing to snap beans, shuck corn, shell peas, and crack nuts for anyone needing help. When she and Bill lived at the lake and beach, their home was always open to company to enjoy. She was a wonderful hostess; no guest ever left hungry. She loved to spoil her grandson and made anyone feel welcome in her home. Catherine loved picking strawberries with her family. She had a servant heart, loved to play Rook and loved her grand dogs. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, June 23, 2022, at West Corinth Baptist Church in Mooresville. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will immediately follow the service at Glenwood Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 5171 Glenwood Avenue, Suite 101, Raleigh, NC 27612.
