Marvin Ray Lanier

Marvin Ray Lanier, 90, of Statesville, passed away on Tuesday, May 24, 2022. He was born on September 15, 1931 in Iredell County, NC to the late Clarence and Flora Alexander Lanier. He was a graduate of Cool Spring High School and of NC State University, class of 1957. He was a veteran having served in the US Marines Corps. Marvin enjoyed traveling, gardening, woodworking and kept honeybees. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be greatly missed. He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Martha Cashion Lanier; children, Candace White (Mark), Rhonda Brewer, Brent Lanier; sister, Anne Poole; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, May 28, 2022 at Cool Spring United Methodist Church with Rev. Justin Douglass officiating. Burial will follow the service at Centre Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 129 Centre Church Road, Mooresville, NC 28117 at 4:00 PM. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00-2:00PM at the church.
