August 31, 1935 - August 16, 2021
Joshua Arthur Carey passed away peacefully with his wife by his side August 16 just days before his 86th birthday. He was a patient at Lake Norman Medical Center. He was also survived by his three children: his twin sons, Joshua Kenneth and Joseph Brimer Carey, from Arnold, MD. And Margaret Elizabeth "Beth" Carey from Arkansas. He was survived by his granddaughter, Stephanie Himes, and his great granddaughter, Aubrey Himes all from Arnold, MD. His previous wife, Emily Brimer Carey passed away in 1981. Josh was also survived by his stepson, Howard Insley, and his children, Cole and Caroline Insley who loved their grandpa. Joshua (Josh) graduated from Buckingham High School in Berlin, MD. He also graduated from Washington College in Chestertown, MD with a degree in Political Science. He was awarded the Jurisprudence Achievement Award from Baltimore University's School of Law. After this, he was drafted by the Army and served two years in Korea. He then worked for Allstate Insurance Company as a claims adjuster. The next part of his career was with American Health and Life Insurance Company in Baltimore as Assistant Vice President in charge of their Legal Department. In his retirement, he was a real estate agent working for Champion Realty in Saverna Park, MD. In 2020 Josh moved to Davidson, N.C. after living in Annapolis since he was first married. Josh was an avid reader of books and has probably read every science fiction book ever written. Josh was always a fun guy to be with. He was still jitterbugging with his wife at his niece's wedding a couple years ago. Josh was brilliant and sought after for knowledge and advice. He was his family's "go to" guy when they needed advice because he had the answers. He was also active with his remaining high school classmates keeping them in touch with each other and making sure they got together as a group each summer. They called themselves the "53res", of course. Josh will be greatly missed. We will be celebrating his life Sunday, September 19th in Ocean City, MD.
