    Hazel Buckley

    August 7, 1934 - February 1, 2022

    Hazel Buckley, 87, of Charlotte, NC, formerly of North Babylon, NY, passed away on Tuesday, February 1, 2022, following a period of declining health. Hazel was born on August 7, 1934, in New York, NY, to the late John and Zara Essayian. Hazel was a retired executive assistant to the VP of the Economics Department at Chase Bank in New York. She loved to sing and dance. She was a member of the Twin County Chorus of Sweet Adelines International. She was also a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in West Babylon, NY where she contributed her time to many charitable causes. She also loved to spend time with her grandchildren and family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her late husband of 61 years, Andrew Buckley, her grandson, Mikey Culnan, her sister, Anna Essayian and brother, John Essayian. She is survived by her children Christina Rafferty (Dennis) of Corneilus, NC, John Buckley (Andrew) of Las Vegas, NV, Janine Culnan (Mike) of Cary, NC, Anne Marie Nasi (John) of Prosper, TX, and Steven Buckley (Carrie) of Charlotte, NC; sister, June Tirinkian of Watertown, MA; grandchildren Tara Ragan (Mike), Kelly Culnan, Sean Nasi, Lauren Nasi, Keelan Rafferty (Paige), Patrick Rafferty, Shannon Rafferty, Michelle Reising (Scott) and Evan Rafferty (Kristina); great grandchildren, Paityn, Brynn and Sebastian; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 16 from 5:00-7:00 PM at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home with a prayer service at 6pm. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Thursday at St. Therese Catholic Church. Burial will follow the service at 2:00 PM at Salisbury National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Cavin-Cook Funeral Home, Mooresville, NC is serving the family of Mrs. Buckley.
