Hazel Cordelia Blackmon

June 15, 1936 - January 27, 2022

Hazel Cartin Blackmon left this earthly life on Thursday, January 27, 2022. She was born on June 15, 1936, in Mooresville, NC, to the late Mary Moore Cartin and P. J. Cartin. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Glenn William Blackmon; sisters, Julia Cartin Pruett, Elsie Cartin Overcash, Christine Cartin DeBose, and Mildred LaFevers; brothers, James Alfred Cartin, and Brigdair Burdette Cartin. Hazel graduated from Mooresville High School. She worked in electronics before her retirement. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church and taught Sunday School and played the piano in children's church. Hazel was a dedicated volunteer at Gordon Hospice and Palliative Care in Statesville. A visitation will be held on Monday, January 31, 2022 from 10:00-11:00am at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home & Crematory, Mooresville, NC. A funeral service will be held in the chapel at 11:00am with the Rev. Hal Greene and Rev. David Klinedinst officiating. Burial will follow at Glenwood Memorial Park, Mooresville, NC immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the S. Mitchell Mack Hospice House, 1325 Mecklenburg Hwy., Mooresville, NC 28115 or Southside Baptist Church, 525 South Broad St., Mooresville,NC 28115.
