Cindy K. (Lentz) Schaper, 65, of Cornelius, NC passed away peacefully Friday, January 15th, 2021 at Novant Health Hospital in Huntersville after a long, courageous fight with cancer. Cindy was born August 14th, 1955 in Rochester, MN to Lawrence Leo Lentz and Doris Marie (Geerdes) Lentz. She graduated from John Marshall High School in Rochester, MN in 1974. She worked at St. Marys Hospital, Mayo Clinic Rochester until 1986 when she followed her dream and moved to San Diego, CA. She later met Norvin (Buz) H. Schaper III, they were married on December 24th, 1988 with a beach wedding in San Diego. Upon transfer with his employer, they relocated to NC in 1991 finding their home in Cornelius. Cindy was a very compassionate, outgoing person who enjoyed the outdoors. She enjoyed time in the mountains, camping and in her flower gardens. She also had a tremendous love for dogwood trees, blue birds and hummingbirds. And if there was a stray, it always had a home with Cindy! She has a way of making friends wherever she went and had a large family who loved her dearly. She was very active in her church at Riverlife Christian Fellowship and was employed as a property manager with the Knox Group. Cindy is survived by her husband, Norvin (Buz) H. Schaper III of Cornelius; a sister-in-law, Cathe Schaper of Austin, Texas; a brother, Kevin Lentz; a sister, Sandy Beier; three nephews, Brian (Shelbey) Lentz, Kyle Lentz and Casey Beier; one niece, Kayla Lentz; two great-nieces, Nevaeha and JoyHannah Lentz; two great-nephews, Isaac and Isaiha Lentz; one uncle, Harold Geerdes all from her home State of MN and many, many wonderful cousins. Cindy is preceded in death by six grandparents; three parents, Lawrence Leo Lentz, Doris Marie (Geerdes) Lentz and Audrey Delores (Breen) Lentz; father and mother-in-law, Norvin (Gus) Schaper II and Bonnie (Freese) Schaper; three uncles, Lyle L. Lentz, Johnny and Bob Geerdes; two aunts, MaryAnn Lentz and Rosie Geerdes. Cindy was an inspiration and cherished by all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and has touched more lives than she will ever know….God Bless your newest Angel!! A service will be held 2pm Wednesday, January 20th, 2021 at Riverlife Christian Fellowship, 2487 Charlotte Hwy, Mooresville, NC.
