Roland Lee Boykin

November 28, 1934 - December 21, 2011

Roland Lee Boykin, 77, of Mooresville, passed away on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center.
He was born on November 28, 1934 in Lee County, SC, to the late Roland Edward Boykin and Corrie Davis Boykin. He was retired from the Kannapolis Independent Tribune, where he was an advertisement designer. He was an evangelist and a member of Laura Memorial Church of God in Mooresville.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sara McCaskill Boykin; daughter, Susan Smith and husband, Rev. Frank Smith of Mooresville; brother, Olin Boykin and wife, Martha of Bishopville, SC; grandchildren, Wayne Smith and wife, Kiasla, Kristy Leigh Smith-Short; and great grandchildren, Christina Houston and husband, Grant, Steven Eaton, and Shaleigh Short.
A Memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, December 23 at Laura Memorial Church of God with Rev. Frank Smith officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6:00-8:00 PM at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home.
