Robert Hebron Mills
March 23, 1920 - February 9, 2012
Robert Hebron Mills, 91, of Mooresville, passed away on Thursday, February 9, 2012 at Gordon Hospice House in Statesville.
He was born on March 23, 1920 in Iredell County, to the late William Pinkney and Emma Blanche Sloop Mills. He was a WWII veteran serving in the US Navy and was a retired Police Chief from the Town of Davidson Police Department after 23 years of service. He was a member of the American Legion Post in Cornelius for 60 years, Williams Masonic Lodge #136 AF & AM, and Scottish Rite-Valley of Charlotte for 50 years. He was also a member of Oasis Shrine, Order of Eastern Star Long Creek Chapter #151, Mt. Mourne Lions Club, where he received the Jack Stickley Award. He was a member of the Mt. Mourne Volunteer Fire Department and of Davidson United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Dora Marlowe, Marie Isenhour, Mary Wilson; and brothers, Ray Mills, Johnnie Mills, and Kenneth Mills.
Mr. Mills is survived by his wife of 69 years, Charlotte Stilwell Mills; and sister, Laurene McAllister of Mooresville.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, February 12 at Davidson United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Jody Seymour and Rev. Dr. Russell Montfort. Burial will follow the service at Mimosa Cemetery in Davidson with Masonic Graveside Rites. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 6:00-8:00 PM at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home.
