Richard Lee Mitchell

August 15, 1937 - January 26, 2012

Richard L. Mitchell, “Mitch”, of Sherrills Ford, passed away at the age of 74 on January 26, 2012. He was born in Lancaster, OH, on August 15, 1937. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Barbara Mitchell; his sons, Randy, Richard, Timothy and David Mitchell; his daughters, Cynthia Roberts, Deborah Wyatt and Rebecca Euton; his adopted children, Jeremiah and Joshua Mitchell and Jessica Wood. He enjoyed the love of 24 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren, all of whom will dearly miss him.

Mitch was a logger all his life. He loved the timber like his own skin and always respected the need to care for the woods. He never knew a stranger and was loved by all. He was a great husband, father, grandfather and friend.

A memorial service will be held at 7 PM, Sunday, January 29, 2012, at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 1403 S. Hwy 16 Business, Newton, NC. Friends can be received at the home of Edmund and Deborah Wyatt following services, 5793 Hwy 150 East, Denver, NC.
