Patsy "Pat" Quirk Porter

Patsy “Pat” Quirk Porter, 82, of Denver, NC, died Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at her residence.
She was born on May 17, 1929 in Opelousas, LA. She was the daughter of the late William Ralph Quirk and Mabel Gardiner Quirk and the wife of the late Julian Kenneth “J.K.” Porter. She was a former resident of Salisbury, MD, for over 32 years. She was a graduate of Sacred Heart Academy and a member of the VFW 194 in Salisbury. She loved cooking and sewing, and always had an “open door policy,” where she never knew a stranger and considered her friends as family. To her grandchildren and all children, big or small, young or old, she was known as “Morro.”
Survivors include her five children, Kenneth A. Porter and wife Sylvia of Ontario, CA; Marie J. Bennett and Gary Travers of Salisbury, MD; Robin M. Betts of Denver, NC; Ralph D. Porter of Salisbury, MD; and Thomas P. Porter and wife Jennifer Hinely-Porter of Mooresville; a brother, Andrew G. Quirk of Lafayette, LA; eleven grandchildren, Bronwyn, Drew, Ashlea, Culver, Kelly, Lauren, Mary Kathryn, Brette, Vaughn, and Quinn; six great grandchildren Asher, Aidyn, Sofia, Reese, Jackson, and Jon; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2011, at 4:00 PM at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home Chapel. Following the service, the family will receive friends and family at the home of her son, Thomas, in Mooresville, NC.
