Nilsa Maldonado Burns

January 5, 1965 - February 10, 2012

Nilsa Maldonado Burns, 47, of Mooresville, passed away on Friday, February 10, 2012 at her residence.
She was born on January 5, 1965 in Puerto Rico, to Luis and Alicia Rivera Maldonado. She was a Spanish teacher and assistant girl’s basketball coach at Lake Norman High School and formerly at North Iredell High School. She was also employed at the YMCA, where she worked the front desk and taught swimming. She was formerly employed with Bank of America in Charlotte and a member of St. Therese Catholic Church in Mooresville.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Brent Burns; sons, Francesco Burns and Paolo Burns; sisters, Marisol Maldonado, Myra Maldonado; and brother, Pedro Maldonado.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 18 at St. Therese Catholic Church, Mooresville. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
