Miriam Hinson Murphree

July 20, 1921 - September 12, 2011

Miriam Hinson Murphree, 90, of Mooresville, passed away on Monday, September 12, 2011 at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center.
She was born on July 20, 1921 in Heath Springs, SC, to the late Furman Lilly and Mary Evelyn Mosley Hinson. She was a 1943 graduate of Winthrop University. She was a dietician for the Lancaster County Schools in SC and later retired as a school teacher in Lexington County, SC schools, District 5. She was formerly a member of Union United Methodist Church in Irmo, SC for 37 years and currently a member of Central United Methodist Church in Mooresville. She taught Sunday School and was active in the United Methodist Women.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Garnett Murphree; and brothers, James Furman Hinson and Paul M. Hinson.
She is survived by her children, Gary C. Murphree and wife, Sarah of Richmond, VA, Mary M. Easter and husband, Lee of Mooresville; grandchildren, Gary C. Muphree, Jr., Mary Ann Murphree, JoBeth M. DeVore, Justin Easter, and Elizabeth Easter; nieces, Susan Hinson Hood and Beth Hinson Neal; and dear and faithful friend, Frances Jones.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM on Thursday, September 15 at Woodlawn Memorial Park Remembrance Chapel, Greenville, SC, with Rev. Randy Sherrill officiating. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service in the cemetery chapel.
