Obituary
Marianne S. Kinzie
October 30, 1933 - November 19, 2011
Marianne S. Kinzie, 78, died on November 19, 2011 in Mooresville, N.C. at her home after a long fight with dementia. She was born in 1933 to the late Troy and Clara Sherrill. Marianne graduated from A. L. Brown High School in Kannapolis and then the Women’s College now known as UNC Greensboro, N. C. with a degree in Retail Marketing. She was a long time employee of Belk Stores Services. She worked for them in New York as a buyer and later returning to Charlotte as a buyer in Children’s Clothes when she retired in 1996. She was a strong unassuming woman that had an open soft heart. She was a gracious lady and everyone that knew her loved her. She was active in all facets of her children’s lives and participated in a variety of ways in her church over the years. She said she especially liked working with young people because that’s what keeps you young. Mrs. Kinzie was an active member of Williamson Chapel United Methodist Church. She served on many committees and taught Sunday School in her earlier years. Marianne thought being a wife and mother was a high calling. Marianne enjoyed reading, cooking, movies, and gardening with her husband. After retiring she and Norman loved traveling with friends over the United States in their RV for over 15 years. Most of all she loved spending time with her family and being a loving wife to Norman. She was a caring, loving, mother and grandmother. She had a saying that “What a caterpillar calls the end of life, The Master calls a butterfly that can soar to the heavens.” She truly enjoyed life, her friends and being married to Norman her best friend and husband for 51 years. She felt she was a success in life because of her children. She was very proud of the fact that both her children lead good lives and have been loving and respectful of her.
Marianne is survived by her loving husband Norman; Catherine Kennedy; her daughter, a teacher and grandson Michael of Monroe; her son John Kinzie a Fireman, lives in Brooksville, Florida.
A service to celebrate her life will take place on Monday, November 21, 2011, at 2 PM, at Williamson Chapel United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends immediately following.
