Linwood Ray Lipscomb

May 2, 1940 - December 5, 2011

Linwood Ray Lipscomb, 71, of West Jefferson, formerly of Mt. Ulla, passed away on Monday, December 5, 2011 at Carolina Medical Center.
He was born on May 2, 1940 in Wake County, to the late James Clyde Lipscomb and Clara Heath Harris. He was a member of the US Air National Guard. Mr. Lipscomb was a retired freight agent for United Airlines after 41 years of service, presently employed by Tray Transport in Statesville. He was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Mt. Ulla.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Judy Edwards.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Rebecca “Becky” Jones Lipscomb; children, Jeff Lipscomb and wife, Teri of Huntersville, Alan Lipscomb and wife, Amber of Mt. Ulla, Tammy Harris and husband, John of Mt. Ulla; sister, Linda Sparks of Greensboro; brother, Jim Lipscomb of Mocksville; and grandchildren, Lindsey, Brad, Cole, Daniel, Matt, Joshua, Abby, Aaron, and Kade.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, December 9 at Centenary United Methodist Church with Rev. Jeff Rowland officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6:30-8:30 PM at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home.
