Kathryn June Puckett Randolph
August 27, 1924 - September 16, 2011
Mrs. Kathryn June Puckett Randolph, 87, passed away peacefully on September 16, 2011 at Gordon Hospice House in Statesville.
Born on August 27, 1924 in Appomattox, VA, she was the daughter of Douglas and Winnie Rodgers Puckett.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Randolph is preceded in death by her brothers, Douglas and Harold, and Harold’s wife, Peggy Puckett. Her husband of 66 years, Edmund William Randolph, III, passed away in July 2009.
Mrs. Randolph had a keen interest in both the history and the future of our country. She worked a number of years at National Aeronautics and Space Administration at Langley Field, VA, working for the original Test Pilots at the Administration and also working in the Director’s office. (Mr. Randolph also worked at NASA in a career that spanned over 30 years.) She also served on many committees in the commemoration of nationally historical events in the Yorktown/Williamsburg, VA area, where the family lived for many years. She was an award-winning artist in the Hampton Roads, VA area, winning numerous ribbons and recognitions for her original oil paintings.
Mrs. Randolph was a proud member of the Presbyterian Church (PCUSA), where she taught Sunday school alongside her husband for many years. Mr. & Mrs. Randolph met as teens at a youth event at their Presbyterian church in VA.
Mrs. Randolph is survived by her two sons, Edmund William Randolph, IV (Melea) of Las Vegas, NV, and John Hamilton Randolph (Sandra) of Huntersville, and two beloved grandchildren, Peyton Alexandra Randolph and John Hamilton Randolph, Jr. (“Jack”). She is also survived by sister-in-law Betty Randolph Smith (Robert) of Hilton Head, SC, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Honoring their wishes, a private memorial service for both “Bill & Kitty” Randolph will be held at a later date.
