Katherine McLaughlin West

October 9, 1922 - February 18, 2012

Katherine McLaughlin West, 89, of Mooresville, passed away on Saturday, February 18, 2012, at her home. She was the daughter of the late Sadie Stutts McLaughlin and Clarence McLaughlin. Katherine was also preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, John William (J. W.) West in 2010; husband, Hugh Cecil Belk in 1966, and her grandson, James Andrew Thompson. Katherine was a member of First Baptist Church, Mooresville. She was a homemaker and an excellent cook. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her family and entertaining family and friends in her home. Katherine is survived by her four daughters and sons-in-law, Aggie Belk Barrier (Ron), of Mooresville, Linda Belk Kramer (Edward), of Fort Mill, SC, Anne Belk Thompson (Jim), of Dunn, and Nancy Belk Brawley (Mark), of Mt. Ulla; seven grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and a sister, Margaret Goodnight. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Tuesday, February 21, 2012, at First Baptist Church, Mooresville, with Rev. Steve Sellers officiating. Burial will follow in Centenary United Methodist Church Cemetery, Mt. Ulla. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 PM, Monday, February 20, 2012, at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home, Mooresville.
