Joseph "Joe" Wayne Allen

September 20, 1927 - December 14, 2011

Joseph “Joe” Wayne Allen, 84, of Davidson, passed away on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center, surrounded by his loving wife, Shirley, and family.
He was born on September 20, 1927 in Howell, MI, to the late William and Eva Docking Allen. He was a graduate of Michigan State University. He was a veteran serving in the US Army and retired from Juvenile Shoes in St. Louis. Joe loved his family and especially the love of his life, Shirley.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Gary Allen; and brother, Robert Allen.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Shirley Gabsdell Allen; children, Sherry Francis and husband, Sandy of Mooresville, Judith Kaminsky and husband, Mark of Bloomfield Hills, MI, Joseph Allen and wife, Edeltrud of Corning, NY; brother, William R. Allen of Northport, MI; grandchildren, Jennifer Hammett and husband, Jeff, Shaun Thomas and wife, Stephanie, Zach Francis, Ashley Francis, Isaac Kaminsky, Noah Kaminsky; and great grandchildren, Kendall and Audrey Hammett, Chance and Brooke Thomas.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, December 19, 2011 at Davidson United Methodist Church with Dr. Jody Seymour officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the 2nd floor living room at The Pines at Davidson at 3:00 PM. Burial will be held at a later date in Michigan.
